NASAA's investment adviser representative (IAR) continuing education program has now been adopted by 24 jurisdictions, covering the majority of state-registered investment advisers in the United States.
The program requires 12 credits per year: 6 in Products and Practice and 6 in Ethics and Professional Responsibility. Credits are tracked through the IARD system.
Indiana has announced adoption effective in 2027, which will bring the total to 25 jurisdictions. The remaining states have not yet adopted the NASAA IAR CE model rule.
Firms operating in multiple jurisdictions should verify CE requirements for each state where their IARs are registered, as requirements may differ in non-adopting states.
